"Jimbo" the Supersaurus was found near Douglas, WY a decade ago. Long hard hours of excavation by Tate Museum and Wyoming Dinosaur Center field crews have resulted in the collection of a far more complete specimen of this taxa than the type. The last year and a half the WDC has been working, at times around the clock, to reconstruct the skeleton of Supersaurus vivianae for an expo that is being held in Japan this summer. Here's the skeletal reconstruction and a few photos of the finished product:

This was the guide for the supersaur mount.

Me carving bones in da hood; this was not the fun part! While the new specimen fills in many of the gaps in our knowledge, there were dozens of bones that had to be reconstructed to get a full mount. Dave Lovelace, Damien Beatty, Bill Wahl and I spent numerous hours on this phase of the project.

"Jimbo" is test-assembled in Thermopolis, and filmed for an educational program that aired in Japan. Ken Carpenter, who graciously assisted us, can be seen with the film crew.

The mount making its grand debut in Japan. After the expo is over, the skeleton will be put on display at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center sometime this fall..
